Vallon![]() Myspace Brittany: Start off by telling us your name, when and how you joined and what you do in the band. Jimmy: My name is Jimmy, and I sing for Vallon. Adam and I initially started the band together as a side project, because Adam was currently involved in another band at the time. As soon as we got the rest of the band on board and started writing songs together, it became more of a full time thing. Brittany: How would you describe your music to someone who hasn't heard you before. Jimmy: I think the best way we've been able to describe our music would be to call it melodic metal. While the majority of the music is heavy, it is accompanied by melodic choruses and some catchy guitar riffs that might make our music more appealing to somebody who may not typically be intrigued by heavier music. Brittany: Do you have a favorite song to perform live? Jimmy: I usually love performing whichever song is the newest. Every time we write a new song, it becomes my new favorite until we write the next one. Aside from that, I'd have to go with "We're Far From Home", because it usually seems to be the crowd favorite. Brittany: Are there any venues you have always wanted to play at but haven't yet? Jimmy: I don't know that I've ever really been too hung up on where we play our shows, but I guess it would be cool to play some shows at the ICC in Allston, because the shows there tend to have pretty impressive turnouts. We played Warped Tour last summer, so that's one I got to cross off the list. Brittany: If you could put together your dream tour who would be on it? Jimmy: Vallon, The Jonah Veil, Therefore I Am, and Radiation Year. We are in love with all 3 of these bands... and being on the road with them all at once would probably be a pretty out of control time. Go check them out! Brittany: What songs seem to get the best crowd response? Jimmy: Oops, blew this one earlier. "We're Far From Home" usually gets the best response at shows, mainly because it was heavily promoted when we released our debut EP back in August. Everything we've written since the EP seems to go over well with the more aggressive show-goers, it definitely gives them something to move to. Brittany: What is the best advice you can give to someone trying to break into the music scene? Jimmy: My best advice would be to go with your gut. If you love something, support it. Go out to shows, get sweaty and have a great time. Brittany: If you could change anything about the music business what would that be? Jimmy: I don't really have any gripe with the music business. Right now all we care about is writing music we love, playing as many shows as possible, meeting new people and traveling to new places. We could care less about percentages or contracts... we just want to have fun and make some friends along the way. Brittany: Do you guys have any big plans or announcements we should look out for? Jimmy: Well, we're actually in an online voting competition to play the 2008 Rockstar Taste Of Chaos :) We could definitely use as much support as possible! All the details can be found on our MySpace page. Also, we have a new bassist! His name is Austin, he's a great bassist, he's extremely good looking, and we've never been happier with our lineup. He is the best possible person we could have found for the job and we've never had so much fun being a band. Brittany: Any last words for everyone checking you guys out? Jimmy: Thanks for reading :) Come out to our shows and we'll have a great time! We can't wait to meet you!!!
