This Providence Myspace.com/thisprovidence Brittany: Start off by telling everyone what you do in the band and a random fact about yourself. Gavin: My name is Gavin I play guitar and I put hot sauce on most everything. Brittany: When and how did the band form? Gavin: The band started in 2003 when me and the singer Dan Young started playing together. We met through mutual friends. Brittany: How would you describe the band's sound to someone who has not checked you out before? Gavin: Quirky Pop Rock. That's about the best I can describe it. Brittany: Who came up with the name This Providence and is there a meaning behind it? Gavin: We came up with it early on. Providence means divine intervention or guidance. We felt it summed up what we were trying to do pretty well. Brittany: You guys are currently on tour right now, how has that been going? Gavin: Tour has been amazing! We just got off a tour with Ludo, Sing It Loud, and The Morning Light and that went better than could have expected. So much fun. And now me and Dan are on an acoustic tour with The Academy Is followed by a tour with Copeland and then Bamboozle. Brittany: Are there any dates in particular or venues you are pumped to play at? Gavin: All of em! Brittany: Do you have any memorable fan experiences? Gavin: Hmmm...well this one time a fan brought me an old phone of there's because mine had broken earlier in the tour. That was pretty awesome Brittany: What are your plans as a band after this tour? Gavin: To continue touring most of this year! Then who knows. Brittany: What is your take on the music industry right now? Gavin: It's rough in some ways, and better than ever in others. No one buys records anymore, and the scene is so crowded, but with the internet it's so much easier to get your music heard. The music industry is a strange beast.
