The Medic Driod

Brittany: Start off by telling us about yourself and what you do in the band.
Hector: My name is Hector and I play keyboard, guitar and backup vocals, Johnny also plays keyboard, guitar and sings backup vocals, and Chris is the vocalist.

Brittany: When and how did the band form?
Hector: Well late last year (2006) Chris starting writing 'Fer Sure' more of as a joke song and he had the idea to start a side project band called The Medic Droid but never really meant for the band to be a full project, Chris and Johnny were already in a rock/electronica type band called The Vanity Light, and I (Hector) was in a synthy power-pop type band called Good With Grenades. So chris came to Good With Grenades vocalist Johnny Vanderhoven to ask him if he could help him record a song he was writing because we were all pretty good friends and Johnny V. produced bands, so Johnny V. and Chris started recording Fer Sure and asked me to help on the track. Soon after the song was done he put it on myspace never meaning for it to be popular and all of a sudden it started getting alot of plays and people kept asking for more songs. Chris then thought about making The Medic Droid a full on project so he asked me (Hector) and Johnny from his current band (The Vanity Light) to start on The Medic Droid. This all started happening about January of this year (20070. We started on the song 'Keeping Up With Joneses' and put that out soon after Fer Sure was released. We have only released 2 songs and are currently working on an album, but we'll release a few songs from the album before the actual album comes, which hopefully will be out by this fall.

Brittany: You guys seem to be doing pretty well on myspace, what is your take on the online community?
Hector: We think it's awesome, the music industry has changed alot especially because of the internet. It's easier for people to discover new music and easier for bands to promote themselves.

Brittany: How do you describe your music?
Hector: Well we have alot of very different influences that go into the music, it's very dance influeced mixed in with alot of different rock elements and still a few things here and there mixed in.

Brittany: What is your favorite song off of your myspace?
Hector: We really like both the songs, it's hard to choose, we are really excited for people to hear the new songs I think we put alot more into them.

Brittany: How did you come up with the name The Medic Droid?
Hector: Chris thought of it years ago, its from Star Wars actually there was a droid called the medic droid.

Brittany: Who are some of your influences?
Hector: The Blood Brothers, The Locust, Elton John, The Misfits, Aqua, Blumchen, Basshunter, Queen, John 5, Beach Boys.

Brittany: You guys have such a unique sound, what is the process for making your songs like that?
Hector: Not to sure really haha we just wanted to be able to mix dance music with rock, we write what we like to hear. I think thats the secret to it, we just don't limit ourselves on how something needs to sound or be written. We love so many genres of music we just love hearing everything we like in our music someway or another.

Brittany: If you could put together a tour who would you want to tour with?
Hector: MSI, The Blood Brothers, Shiny Toy Guns.

Brittany: What is something you want to change about the music industry?
Hector: Music journalism.

Brittany: Do you have any venues or cities you have never played at that you really want to play?
Hector: We can't wait to tour the US, Canada, Australia, Europe and Mexico.

Brittany: What can we expect from you guys in the near future?
Hector: An album definitely and alot of touring.

Brittany: Any words or advice for your fans and the readers?
Hector: Do your own thing, and believe in yourself, dont let anyone tell you different .
