Emz.Robinson.![]() MYSPACE 1. For those who do not know much about you, tell them who you are and how you got started? My name is Emz.Robinson. Im a female rapper -this whole 'mc' title i've never really attached to. I've always just called it rapping. I love to write solid lyrics sharing stories about what Ive been through and seen. Im a heeeaps passionate person about music and I'm majorly inlove with sound and melodies and beats -the creation of it all. An inspirational beat to me writes its own song and story -its all me but the song just unfolds on its own -thats what I love bout it. Im lots about soul and vibe and expression of ones self. Music -Ive found to be the only loyal thing thats stood strong by me all my life -it goes nowhere and forever relates. I first started rapping when I was with my ex -10years ago..damn..ages.. He was in a small hip-hop click with friends at school. Around then it was and sorta is quite rare to see females rap or mc -more so in Australia too. So my ex proposed it to me -id always been into music and was more about singing and wanting to do that until he said to have a go at rapping and doing songs with him -so I did and I loved it. -Back in the day wwe were quite the mad duo! haha.. Rapping for me, became an avenue and channel to step from behind my shadows into some light with my feelings and thoughts -havent looked back since. Im glad I was introduced to being involved in hip hop music that way and on that type of platform. Da Bratt was my inspiration at that time. 2. What is one material thing you will never give up? -my computer/notebook. 3. What embarrasses you? -Sometimes singing... or someone giving me aa compliment. 4. What is the best/worst quality you have inherited from your parents? -hmm... BEST>> Too keep doing what I want to do... no matter what others think. WORST>> not sure... I have a blank.. -my parents have been awesome. 5. What are a few of your pet peeves? -Smoking... not a huge fan of smoking... > -naggyness, dont like someone nagging at mee.. -Someone wanting to have a conversation withh me when Im on the net or doing something on the computer. I completely tune out. -being asked to drop a line/verse on the spoot very randomly.. or someone wanting to do a battle thing...I dont do that.. dunno it just makes me feel weird..I'm not a battle rapper style of artist. -I cant freestyle to save myself either. 6. Do you have any bad habits? Yes... Im not the best with running on time.. eek.. Im trying to improve on that but its ALWAYS been an issue of mine. 7. What is one thing you want to do before you die? Pursue my dreams. -Aww....haha.. but so true -why not, I feel theres no point being down here if you dont push ahead with what ever you want to do in life -its a big ol'playground -Time ticking is an opportunity and foreseeable certainty, its what you do with it that can be the ticky part . 8. What do you think is the greatest song ever written? Dammnn... huge question.. to be honest I dont have one particular one. So many awesome artists out there.. and great songs. you just cant judge that bout music. Any song that means something to a person that it moves them is a great song ever written. -thats the power that I love. -the way it connects me to you and vice verse. 9. If you could choose any year to live in, including the past and future what year would you choose and why? Ive thought bout this a few times before. Id say 1930's/40's/50's - I just loved what it seemed like back in those times -things appeared so innocent and proper. The vibe between men and women were different (I dont agree with the Betty in the kitchen scenario and the house only being a womens "place") Im more so talking about the way songs were written and how men and women saw each other -more respect and appreciation for what each were to one another. -Huge difference these days. 10. For someone whos never been on stage, explain how it feels to perform in front of many people? Wow.... -Crazy... omg.. at first id just feel sooooooooooo sick in the guts till I was on the stage numbingly rolling words out my mouth through the mic -Luckily my ex was an awesome free-styler so if I lost any of my verse he'd save me and you wouldnt notice.. -sometime its so surreal and before you know it, its ova... FREAK OUT.. but I loved what I was doing, didnt take long and I got over that, the more times your up the more comfortable you feel - People also reacted to me being on stage -Being a female rapping gets a response and jaws dropped. -just strange but you feed off that vibe. People seemed to like seeing a "chick" do what guys normally do best, I also like being in an arena mostly dominated by men. I havent been up on stage in a while so Id be a bit nervy, naturally... but I love it, I love getting up and expressing what Ive written on my own downtime then getting to share that to everyone is such a kool experience and honor. 11. What is one quote you live by? I have two. 1# Do unto others as what you'd want dun unto you... you know what I mean. Treat people how you want to be treated. 2# You can do more then one thing in life and more then one thing at a time! -nothing is a one-way road, its a crazy highway that scatters into so many different directions. 12. If you could have dinner with any 5 people, dead or alive, who would it be? hmm... Biggie smalls, Oprah, Drew Barrymore, Eddy Murphy, My mum and Dad. -yeh I know thats 6 but thats my 6 - I like even numbers? hehe.. 13. Do you have any backstage rituals? umm.. no.. just to relax and get hyper.. pretty exciting time..oh and also to make sure I dont need to go to the loo. haha 14. Out of all your songs, which is your favorite and why? "The story" -id say its one of my deeper trax, a few things in there I dont know if people would understand or know what Im trying to say -sum things are quite metaphorical and have double meanings. -Its a trip about some crazy trials and tribulations Ive experienced with the opposite sex. 15. What are some things that you carry with you at all times when your on tour? Aww.. haha ummm... Im not big enuff yet for the "tour" thing.. I WISH!! haha one day tho!... if I was on tour, it'd be my computer and ipod -I have those with me everywhere I go anyway, they're like external limbs. :oP 16. What age were you when you started singing? gosh... Ive been trying to belt out little tunes since I was 7... didnt actually do anything real though till I met my ex and that was at 17. What's your idea of a cool present? Funky clothes or accessories! -Stuff from around the world -anything thats strange, odd or unique. 18. What's one question that you've never been asked in an interview that you wish you had been? umm... what genres of music I listen too.. -Im eklectic, even my friends get thrown when they hear some stuff I listen to -soooooooooo far away from hip-hop. 19. What made you decided you wanted to be a musician? nothing particularly.. Ive always wanted to be involved with music someway or somehow since as far back as I can remember -its always been there -its just something I HAVE TO DO in this life-time. 20. Any Last Confessions? No....
