Mikey: Hello I'm Mikey, I play the guitar in DSI.

Brittany: How and when did you all join the band?
Mikey: The band first started with just Teddy (bass) and Jack(guitar), a couple members later Branden(vocals) joined, then myself, that was about a year and a half ago, Zach came along about a year ago to switch up the drummer situation. We finally asked Austin to join the band after making our ep "We Will Dissappear" that was around July when it was complete. We knew we needed more keys for our dancy parts.

Brittany: Where did you come up with the name Driver Side Impact?
Mikey: This isn't real exciting haha, the band was called Burn Out Bright for awhile, then they found out there was a band already called Burns Out Bright, this was before I was even in the band. Jack, Teddy, and Branden threw out some names and Driver Side Impact stuck. That's about it.See no fancy meaning for that one haha.

Brittany: Your new record The Very Air We Breathe is released May 29th, do you feel that your sound has matured since We Will Dissapear?
Mikey: Oh a lot more, going to the studio for a month for The Very Air was like rock school! We learned so much more then I have ever imagined. We played to click as well on this record, it just ties everything together with a heart beat. For example "Reasons We Sleep" fourth song on the album is a train, it just keeps coming straight at you. With out the click it was just parts, at the same tempo it sounds complete. Another big thing was recording in analog. Makes all the difference in the sound quality.

Brittany: Who are some bands you will be looking to tour with?
Mikey> Right now we are doing a month and half with Mayday Parade. They are so nice and this whole tour has been bro fest!! We have talk of going out with Sullivan soon.

Brittany: Do you have any songs in particular from the new album that you think will get the best crowd response?
Mikey: "The Heist" its our first single, once you learn the words you cannot get them out of your head! Also for shows we love to end the set heavy, kids really love "Reasons We Sleep". All in all the entire record was made to listen all the way thru and enjoy every track. Each track has something special that every kid can relate or just feel goosebumps just listening to.

Brittany: Who are some of your major influences as a whole?
Mikey: I come from playing in tons of metalcore bands, my style of gutair playing comes from that. I try not to listen to a lot of music that will infiluence the sound of what we play cause as a band we want our own original sound. We are influenced more of styles of music then actual bands in general. Like 80s dance fusions and emo from the early 90s. Lots of post hardcore bands too, that have no verse, chorus, verse, chorus stuff. We have figured away to do verse, chorus in a way that is different and still catchy. There is one thing I do that is taking straight from one band, that is I use a reverbed clean chanel for all my sounds which is very Godspeed. That band is absolutly amazing.

Brittany: If you could change anything about the music industry what would you change?
Mikey: I kinda wish you got paid more like movie stars do. It would make life a little easier.It's a tough biz but someone's got to do it.

Brittany: What are some other bands from Cleveland you think everyone should keep their eyes out for?
Mikey: NSD Whoa!!! (Myspace.com/ndswhoa) if you like to dance and like stoner rock with sounds of the doors and the best grind bands you can think of check them out.The Promise Hero (myspace.com/thepromisehero) if you love saves the day, you will love this band, they have a folk kinda sound too which is amazing.Arbors End (myspace.com/arborsend) good friends of mine! They are a pretty good screamo bandHave their own style of it fo sho! Love those kids.

BrittanyL How would you describe the band's sound to someone who hasn't heard you before?
Mikey: We are the perfect mix of 80's pop fusion with post hardcore, if you love to dance and you love to have fun DRIVER SIDE IMPACT is for you!

Brittany: How do you feel about being signed to Victory and released a new cd in the very near future?
Mikey: We love Victory, they have helped us so much. This record has had a lot of blood sweat and tears go into it from everyone! From the art work to the recording!VR and DSI whooop whoop
