Crush, The Everlasting![]() MYSPACE Tanya: Introduce yourselves, tell us a little about you and what it is you do in the band? Julian: hey I'm Julian I play guitar and I enjoy food Pat: I'm Pat I sing and play guitar. Tanya: How & when did the band form? Julian: Crush, the Everlasting began just under a year ago under the name New York Times... Pat and I were in bands before that sucked even more than this and it was funny. We found Kevin and Derek and started this. We recently changed our name to our current one and here we are! woo! Tanya: why did you guys decide to change your name, what made you decide on crush, the everlasting? Julian: We wanted to change it so we had the ability to create our own identity through the name instead of using something that already existed. we decided on crush, the everlasting because a lot of the ideas in our songs have to do with being young, and we like the idea of being young for ever so that's where we got the everlasting... we got the word crush becuase it has to do with infatuations and being in love and it just went a lot better with us than our old name. Tanya: You guys are all still in hig school do you find it hard to juggle the band, school, work and a social life? Julian: Sometimes it is but we would rather be busy than bored out of our minds. sometimes it mixes because our friends come to shows. So that's nice. Tanya: You guys are currently recording your EP, do you guys have a title for it yet? Julian: No we don't have a set name yet but we have some ideas. Tanya: What is your favorite song off of the EP, why? Julian: Mine is The Consequences of Young Love because It's fun to play and good to dance to. Pat: My favorite is called Chapters of my Box Life because the guitars mix well and it's simple but still groovyyyyyy. Julian: neither are up on myspace yet but look out for those joints!! Tanya: What do you think seperates your band from everyother band out there trying to make it? Julian: We are real kids making real music, nothing we write or ever will write is fake. We are trying to make something that people everywhere can relate to and make them feel like they know us even if they don't. We want to reflect what we are about and what we go through as kids on a day to day basis in our music. Tanya: What makes someone in the crowd stand out to you? Julian: Someone that's dancing. I don't know what happened to dancing, people must be to cool for school but we are gunna try and bring that back haha.to anyone that reads this: DANCING IS COOL! Tanya: How does the writing process for you guys go, do you write the lyrics or the music first? Pat: It really depends, the order in which every song was written i think was different... which is funny. there's no magic process unfortunately, it just builds up until eventually it's finished. most of the time i would get a few parts and a general idea for the music and then bring it to julian and we'd just kinda fine-tune it and I would add all the vocals until it was finished. Pat: sometimes the initial idea gets flipped in a totally different direction though too, like if I brought an idea to julian and he came up with a really cool part then we would base the song around that... its fun. Tanya: Who have been some of your biggest musical influences? Pat: Mine are all over the place, the only thing I listened to when I was young was oasis because thats all my dad ever played. now im influenced by everything from Usher to the killers to paramore. I'm influenced by every single thing I hear though, whether its good or bad. Tanya: who are some bands you would love to tour with? Pat: At this point I would love to tour with almost anyone hah. But I guess if I had to pick probably circa survive, paramore, my american heart. any one that's nice! Tanya: Who are some local buffalo bands you are a fan of ? Pat: we love mandy k and storyline (used to be solusperro) they are all great guys that weve become pretty good friends with. almost every local band we've played with has been nice so its cool. Tanya: What is one song another artist or band has written that you wish you had? Pat: Cute without the e by Taking Back Sunday. Tanya: What's been one of your favorite bands to play with? Pat: settings. they were absolutely rediculous. Tanya: You guys are planning on touring in the spring, are their any cities in particular you want to play in? Pat: Anywhere people will go to the show. it would be nice to have a big exciting crowd who's eager to listen to our music. So I guess what ever city that is! Any Final Words for the fan... Pat: I hope people see something genuine in our music and enjoy it. If our music effects anyone in any way then I think we've at least done something. By listening to us you're getting to know us and even if you live far away and your lives are probably totally different, we're all sorta the same. whether you've heard of us or not LISTEN TO THE EP! when it comes out. thank youuuuuuuuuuu
