Big City Lights
Myspace Tanya: Tell us a little about yourself and what band it is you play for? Adam:My name is Adam, I'm 20 years old and I play bass in Big City Lights. Tanya: For the readers who may not have heard about Big City Lights, why dont you give us some backround information on the band ( When was the band formed, Whats the story behind the name etc..) Adam: Well if you want the whole story: We started about 5 years ago and we were called Perfect Endings. In the summer of 2005 after we got home from tour we decided to all go our seperate ways. We all joined different bands and remained playing with them for the last 2 years. Justin went from vocals in our band to playing bass for a band called Permanent Me, Sal played guitar in a band called Celestina, and I played bass in a band called Brookside. About 2 months ago, Sal's band was coming to an end and Justin left Permanent Me due to personal reasons, and they started writing together. Once I heard the songs I knew I had to leave the band I was in and get back with my best friends. We then got Mike on drums who was the last drummer of Perfect Endings before we broke up, and our line-up was complete. To make an analogy, it's kind of like when you're in a relationship with someone for a long time, and something causes a little friction causing you to "break up" for a little to see what else is out there, see what the world has to offer. But if you dont feel the same connection with the other people you meet, that you did with the person you were in a relationship with, you get back with that person because you know it's right. So in our case, for the last 2 years we all toured and played music in different bands, but yet it just felt right for us to be back together, and just use the last 2 years as a learning experience and continue right where we left off. We changed the name from Perfect Endings to Big City Lights because even though it's some of the same members, we're a different band and not using any of the Perfect Endings songs. It's kind of like a re-invention of ourselves, and we can't wait to show the world what we got. Tanya: If you could tour with any band who would it be? Adam: Touring with any band is fun, it's always good to become friends with other bands. But if i had a dream band to tour with, it would be Motley Crue, but back in 1989. Tanya: Ideally if you could choose any record label to be signed to who would you pick? Adam: Whoever could do the most for us as a band while sticking true to what we both believe in. Tanya: Do you have any pre-show rituals? Adam:I like to drink about 2 or 3 Red Bulls to get some energy, do a little stretching, then put on my iPOD and listen to something to get me pumped, most likely Every Time I Die or New Found Glory. Tanya: What is your favorite song to perform live? Adam: Well we haven't had our first show yet, it's on May 26th. So based on from practice, I'd have to say "A Boy Stuck In The Scene". That song will most likely open our live set and it just has a really good up-beat vibe to it and sets the tone for the rest of our set. Tanya: How does someone in the crowd stand out to you? Adam: I mean if someone is standing in front of me and has their arms crossed, you know they're not interested and I try and do what I can to win them over and change their minds. But if the person next to them is singing every word and having a good time, I'll deffintly notice him/her a lot more than the other person. Tanya: Do you have any hidden talents? Adam: I dont think they should be discussed here haha. Tanya: Do you have any plans to release a CD anytime soon? Adam: Well Sal's brother Nick has a studio in their basement, and the past 2 weeks we've been recording demo's. Once those demos are finished (which sound incredible so far), we're going to be showing them to a few people we've been talking with, and as far as a CD goes, I guess we'll take it from there. Tanya: After everything is all said and done what do you want to be remembered for? Adam: I think we want to be remembered as a band that always appreciated every gift that was given to them and never took anything for granted. A band that made friends with every single person that came to see them and always had time for their fans, and a band who always remembered where they came from and never forgot about the passions and reasons why they're in a band.
