They are gaining a huge buzz around Arizona and around the internet, but The Maine is just preparing to release their EP, Stay Up, Get Down, in July. The EP is a great soundtrack for your summer with upbeat, catchy songs that will have you and your friends smiling and singing along. These songs are the catchiest things I have heard since Panic! At the Discos A Fever You Cant Sweat Out, but dont confuse my words, the bands sound nothing alike. The Maine brings something new to the table that not many bands have done, though Im not quite sure what it is.

The first track Count Em, One, Two, Three is the perfect start to an excellent EP. I dont know what brand of chips it is but their slogan is something like, Betcha cant have just one. That easily applies to this song as well. Its hard to listen to it just once because you want to go back and sing the addicting chorus or the bridge featuring guest vocals from Travis Bryant of GoodbyeTomorrow. The song also contains sexual overtones and those are always fun, yeah? The second song, Daisy, is one of my favorites of this six-songer. It is also one of the original songs from their MySpace, which garnered The Maine a lot of attention. This track is extremely upbeat and has a chorus youll find yourself moving to. Daisy is extremely fun during one of the choruses when the music relaxes and the whole band is singing. Daisy is definitely something youll want to put on a mix CD for your girlfriend. Trust me, shell dig it and jump your bones.

Once again, The Maine will impress you with Shake It and (nearly) force you to sing along. If Hellogoodbye and Taking Back Sunday teamed up, Shake It is probably what it would sound like. Its one of the more rock tracks of the EP and I think Johns vocals shine on this one. The Towns Been Talking now gets its turn (but not its last) This song showcases the musical talents of The Maine. It goes from extremely fast and powerful to slow, relaxing and melodic. When you get this EP, listen to it completely and if you can do it without singing along, I will get you a prize. Its insanely hard, I promise.

The two songs that I am going to write about now have not been released yet and unfortunately (for you guys) they are my favorites on the EP. Sorry, youll have to wait a couple months! Undressing the Words is awesome if youre into Panic! Or The Faint, even. Its loaded with sexual references and innuendos, so youll have a good time pointing those out. Youll surely smile at certain references that we can all relate to. Give Me Anything is without a doubt my favorite track of the EP. Im not kidding, this song has 75 plays on my iTunes and I first listened to it on late Monday night and it is Thursday afternoon. I first heard the song acoustic at one of their shows, so I was surprised to hear it with synthesizers, claps and electronic drums. This is the most different track from the EP and I can only use this analogy: Give Me Anything is to The Maine as Jesse Buy Nothing is to Hellogoodbye. This song grabs your heart strings and doesnt let go until youve stopped listening. The sugar sweet lyrics and optimistic beat will have you thinking of your main squeeze.

Overall, Stay Up, Get Down is a great soundtrack to summer that you will need to check out. While most EPs are simply skipped because they are just an EP, this one is something you wont want to miss. My only complaint is the EP ends too soon but because the songs are very catchy and a lot of fun, you wont have a problem at all with listening to this once more. Also, beware, this EP might take over your CD playerjust warning you! This is a great preview of the great things to come from The Maine. Check them on tour this summer throughout the country. The first four tracks of the EP can also be purchased at The Maine's Myspace
